With a portfolio of brands including Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellowfin and producing over 12,000 boats a year, Gold Coast based company Telwater employs over 250 staff in a variety of specialised trades including welding, carpentry and painters.
In conjunction with the Department of Education, Training and Employment, Telwater recently conducted an information day at its factory for local schools' Industry Relations Officers to learn about job opportunities for their Year 11 and 12 students.
Telwater HR Manager David Marsh said that with demand of production rising each year, the company was constantly looking to fill new positions in a variety of different roles.
"Our aim with this event was to open the door for students looking for apprenticeships and employment after school and make them aware of the opportunities we offer, the products we produce and the skills we look for in our employees," he said.
Industry Relations Officers from a range of Gold Coast high schools toured the 10-acre manufacturing facility and were given the opportunity to speak directly with staff about the opportunities available to their students including school-based apprenticeships and full time employment.
"The Industry Relation Officers had no idea how big Telwater operations were and that they had Australia’s biggest manufacturer of trailerable boats right on their doorstep," Marsh added.
"The next step for us is to have a select number of students come and tour the factory in the near future and speak with us further about what we have on offer."
"Telwater is proud to be Australian made, and the team is excited to train the next generation of boat builders." Marsh concluded.
