Telwater, which builds the Quintrex, Stacer, Archer and Yellowfin brands, said recently that its long-standing supply agreement with Mercury Marine has ended. The boat builder will now offer BRP Evinrude outboards. Telwater announced a partnership with BRP at the end of September.
"Telwater and Mercury have been partners for many years but unfortunately, the market has changed and so must we," said Telwater managing director Paul Phalen in a statement. "BRP has successfully filled the void in our package program with competitively-priced outboards that complement our range."
Phalen says that BRP’s 'competitively priced outboards' and smaller engine sizes made them ideally suited to Telwater's aluminium boats. "We expect to gain an average of 150mm in cockpit space in a 4.5-metre package, which in a small boat it’s something to scream about," said Phalen.
The standard boat-and-motor packages will move to Evinrude, but Telwater will continue to offer pre-rigs for all outboard brands including Mercury and Mariner.
