Tall Ships update

Land ho! Tall ships approach Australia

The Lord Nelson from the UK has made landfall at Fremantle, Western Australia, while the Dutch tall ships Oosterschelde, Tecla and Europa are fast approaching and ready to commence their Australian voyage program.

Welcome to the Fremantle Tall Ship Festival, where you can visit an historic tall ship -- the Dutch ships will be open to the public, with crews ready to show you around and answer all your questions -- at C and D sheds, Victoria Quay, on Sunday July 28 from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

When you visit the tall ships in Freo, you could also win a voyage to the Abrolhos Islands aboard the beautiful barque Europa. Nothing more to it than stepping aboard, entering the draw and crossing your fingers! That said, donations will be appreciated on boarding each ship.

FESTIVAL PROGRAM
Saturday July 27:
- An afternoon of fun with local pirate Matty Blade in the High St Mall
- Find the hidden treasure in a hunt through the lively streets of Fremantle
- Hear the roaring sea chanting of the Purple Pirates band as they light up the City Centre
- Bring your pirate hat, collect your treasure map and visit the Tall Ships!

Remember that there’s still time to join the Tall Ship Fleet for coastal voyages from August to October 2013. Or you can check out the festival program to meet the crew and visit the ships in Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hobart, Sydney and Auckland.

If you would like to volunteer at the Tall Ship Festivals, the organisers would love to hear from you. There are dozens of interesting jobs to fit your skills and interests -- guide, communications officer, parade marshal, clean team, marketing and more. You can register now to become a volunteer for events in Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne.
