Horizon Yachts has just dropped an all-new model on the market featuring both an enclosed upper level and an open flybridge.
Looking something akin to a floating block of flats, the new Horizon FD92 joins the group’s new “fast displacement” line of plumb-nosed motor yachts that make the most of the hull’s interior space – and now height.

“Inspired by the request of an experienced American client who desired both an enclosed skylounge and an open flybridge, the new FD92 is based on the popular FD87 model and features a tri-deck superstructure perched atop an extended hullform,” Horizon said in a release announcing the yacht’s production.
“Showcasing the striking profile, interior space and high-performance piercing bow and hull design that characterise the Cor D. Rover-designed FD Series, the first FD92 will accommodate guests in a full-beam on-deck master stateroom equipped with his-and-hers heads and four additional lower-deck staterooms,” it said.
Quarters for the three crewmembers are situated aft of the engine room, just forward of the beach club.
Horizon said the tri-deck design was a first for the FD Series.
The flybridge space includes a helm and is fu;lly kitted out for entertaining, including an L-shaped lounge, wet bar with fridge and icemaker, and a sun lounge. It can also come equipped with a bimini.
The foredeck includes a jacuzzi for six, more lounge seating, a sun deck and a separate fridge and icemaker, while the rear of the skydeck includes a bar and stools.
The saloon of the Horizon FD92 is ringed in full-height windows and built around the space needed for a formal dining room for 10 people, with a wet bar and lounge area to one side.
Accommodation includes a full-beam forward master suite.
Down the back, a swim platform is rated to 1.1 tonnes and includes what Horizon calls a “transformer” section that helps users to get in and out of the water.
“For all intents and purposes, Horizon Yachts is largely a custom builder,” Horizon Group chief executive John Lu said.
“One of the company principles, however, is to take the investment and R&D from a
successful Horizon yacht customisation and build fully engineered and tested models of that yacht on spec for future owners,” he said.
“The collaboration with the owner of the FD92 led not only to a yacht that met his design criteria, but also a new model for our FD Series that offers the best of indoor and outdoor living.”
The Horizon FD92 is currently being built and will be delivered to its US owner in mid-2020. A second Horizon FD92 being built on spec will be completed by the end of 2020.
