
The Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay is hosting the Sydney SUP Festival and the Pittwater Classic downwind marathon event this weekend.
Hosted by the popular Newport club, the Sydney SUP Festival is all about fun racing for everyone. There are a heap of SUPs on show, gear, technique freaks and everything you need to know to go to the next level of paddleboarding.
With four races and events over two days, set in one of Sydney’s most beautiful waterways, this will be one of Sydney’s premier stand-up paddle board (SUP) events.
Saturday 20th February 2016: Pittwater Classic 8.5km Marathon. Registration at 9am. Barrenjoey to Newport in a NE wind; Newport to Barrenjoey in a southerly, which happens to be one of Sydney's best downwind runs. Boat and shuttle supported. Major cash prizes.
Sunday 21st February 2016: From 8am, the 6km Scotland Island race and 3km Scotland Island fun short course/Naish One Design Sprints - challenge your family, challenge your mates.
Also SUP Demos where you can try the latest gear from the top brands; the SUP Expo so you can check out the latest gear and accessories; paddle technique clinics and lessons; plus heaps of prizes and giveaways. Jumping castles and beats from the RedBull team. Live entertainment and full club facilities
The big Sydney SUP Festival is organised by the Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay and Balmoral Paddlesurf. Supporters include Civic Properties, Naish Australia, JP-Australia SUP, Sunova Surfboards I, Imagine Surf, Lahui Kai, SUP ATX, Sea to Summit - Outdoor Gear, Zhik, Vaikobi and Barz Optics.
