A select group of Riviera’s master craftsmen and support staff recently gathered for the launch of hull one of the eagerly awaited Riviera 50 Enclosed Flybridge cruiser. This is the first all-new model produced following Riviera's acquisition by Rodney Longhurst and the return of CEO Wes Moxey.
The Riviera crew were photographed pointing to the new 50, gesturing to what they consider the positive future for our iconic Australian cruiser brand. Needless to say, a lot is riding on the new 50, not least being more than two years of market research, design and finessing.
After the local launch at Riviera's yard at Coomera, the stunning new 50 headed downriver for her maiden sea trials. Riviera says the 50 cracked 30 knots at WOT with half load. At a comfortable cruise speed of 22.5 knots, she has a range of 335nm with 10 per cent reserve fuel from the 3000-litre fuel tank, we’re told.
Powered by twin Cummins QSC Zeus 600 pod drives -- or alternatively twin Volvo Penta IPS 900s -- the new 50 Enclosed Flybridge will be the jewel in the eight-boat Riviera display at the Sydney International Boat Show opening this Thursday, August 1.
