There’s a trend going down in Sydney, that is, to ever-bigger dayboats and runabouts that can traverse the often-bumpy harbour or nearby Hawkesbury in comfort with a full complement of family and/or friends.
Catering for this point-and-shoot, just-add-water market, the American-made Regal 3200 bowrider is set to attract plenty of interest when it debuts at the Sydney International Boat Show opening August 1.
The big, deep, seaworthy bowrider has been designed from the keel up to assuage the discerning day-boaters, with some key features to make your time behind the wheel or on deck all the more enjoyable.
- Style is important in a dashing dayboat upon which you are destined to be seen. So Regal teamed with an Italian-design firm to create a bowrider to turn heads. Suffice to say there’s plenty of sporty spice in the sweet raked lines.
- Plush seating and lounges are central to your enjoyment and comfort aboard. So Regal designed a cockpit- and bow-seating area to cater for a party at either end of the boat. Big convertible sun lounges double as daybeds and have incline adjustment to suit your mood.
- Privacy is afforded and the day-boating amenity assured for everyone aboard thanks to a step-down full-sized marine head with fresh-water toilet and dressing room.
- The 3200 comes standard with an innovative hydraulic Power Tower so you can adjust the bimini and the shade it casts with the push of a button or retract the unit for the eye-watering run home.
- Entertainment is at the heart of the 3200, as evidenced by not one but two carry-on Igloo coolers for picnics ashore, an inbuilt refreshment centre with solid counter, sink and optional outdoor grill.
- Regal’s Fastrac hull features a unique stepped-running surface that breaks friction and drag by creating ventilation. The claim is up to 26 per cent improved performance and 30 per cent better fuel economy compared with other boats in its class.
- Light but strong is the boast of the hull, which is built using Nida-Core composite coring for the best power-to-weight ratio around, claims Regal.
- It’s no secret that storage is paramount for a great clutter-free day aboard. To this end, Regal made a conscious decision to include as much storage as possible for water toys, provisions, food and personal effects.
- Fit and finish have long been a Regal highlight. The 3200 has an auto-type vinyl-wrapped dash module with French stitching, Faria gauges and Fusion stereo with iPod dock. The cockpit features sewn upholstery with French stitching and diamond- and channel-patterned vinyl panes with flip-down armrests. Relax.
- Performance is everything to dayboaters who don’t want to hang around on their sunny Sundays of pleasure boating. Realising as much, Regal offers a range of twin 300-380hp Volvo Penta or MerCruiser petrol engines with b-i-g V8 blocks and optional joystick docking devices.
