Maritimo says the company has been pleasantly surprised by the recent success of the ‘baby of its range’, the Mustang 32 sports cruiser.
The ‘baby Maritimo’ has not been the company’s focus in recent times as it continues to expand and improve its M58 to M65 flybridge cruising motor yacht range, but sales of the Mustang 32 have bubbled along regardless.
Maritimo’s sales and marketing manager, Greg Haines said part of the popularity was the fact it came with a total of eight engine options and was priced from $235,000.
"We can supply them in both petrol and diesel and one of the recent sales also included the joystick control system," he said.
"Our focus has been on the bigger boats in recent years, but the Mustang 32 has proven a resilient and popular little boat."
Mr Haines said the Mustang 32 was a perfect ‘starter boat’ for people just starting to experience the boating lifestyle and it was equally as popular with people who had trailer boats in the past or who wanted to move down from a larger vessel, but still wanted comfort and performance.
It can be stored in a dry stack marina, or an Air-Dock.
"For a couple with one or two kids this is a great boat and in most cases it can do everything that a lot of its more expensive and larger siblings can do," he said.
Mr Haines said the engine configurations ranged from the standard MerCruiser 385hp 8.2 litre, up to twin Petrol or Diesel engines from both MerCruiser and Volvo.
One boat sold recently optioned up with a generator, air conditioning, twin diesel and Volvo joystick controls.
The Mustang 32 has a forward double berth, additional berths in an adjoining cabin perfect for children, full galley and functional bathroom and head.
Mr Haines said in recent times a Mustang 32 was driven from the Gold Coast to Sydney and was not only economical, but also displayed excellent sea keeping abilities.
"They are a great little boat and that is born out by the recent sales success," he said.
