SYDNEY BOAT SHOW: Maritimo confident with S48

Single-level entertainer to be launched at Sydney Boat Show in July

Maritimo is set to increase its product range this year with the M65 Cruising Motoryacht, a new M48 Cruising Motoryacht and the new S48 Sedan all due to be publicly released in 2015.

The M65 and M48 will have their public debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May.

The S48 will be released  mid-year at the Sydney International Boat Show.

Maritimo Sales and Marketing Manager, Greg Haines, said the M65 has proven a hit already with five vessels sold, the majority even before the moulds were produced.

He said the company was hoping for similar success with the S48, the first of which is soon to be in production at the Maritimo Coomera factory.

"The new S48 is a magnificent boat and we believe it will strike a chord with boaties who want single-level living and either have bridges to navigate to get to their home berth or don’t want the stairs associated with a flybridge," he said.

"It will hit the sweet spot for boat owners moving up from smaller vessels who are looking for all the facilities and benefits of our larger vessels in a more compact package with a starting price of $1.170 million," he said.

The S48 will feature a full-beam master suite and an innovative tender garage which sees the transom and part of the aft cockpit lift up on hydraulic actuators to reveal a large under-deck space for a tender and outboard as well as water sports equipment, or alternatively a huge, easily accessible lazarette.

The S48 has walk-around decks stretching forward to the front windscreen where there is a step up onto the large foredeck.

"We raised the height of the front deck to provide more head room inside the forward cabin and the second cabin to starboard which can be set up as a sleeping cabin with bunks or used as a utility room," he said.

"We have also moved the galley to the port side and the lounge seating opposite has been moved further aft which provides more seating in the saloon.

"This gives us two generous settees in the saloon and with the galley aft to port it is a very good entertaining boat."

The first S48 has already been sold and is headed to Europe with a second boat destined to go to Sydney.

He said the S48 was powered by either two Cummins QSC 600s or Volvo 670s and would have 3000 litres of fuel giving it a range of approximately 400 nautical miles.

An 11KVA Onan generator will be standard.

"We will provide the full upmarket package that is now pretty much the norm on the M58 and that includes Wenge timbers, B&O sound system, icemaker, fresh water and salt water deck wash system and superior finishes and fitout," he said.

"The first of the new models will be on display in Sydney at the Sydney International Boat Show and then  France at the Cannes International Boat Show," Haines added.
