This is the last day of the 48th show and, from our experience, a great time to shop. Dealers will be looking to clinch deals, show stock will be run out at keen prices, and you can grab a bargain with things like lifejackets, watertoys, boat shoes, clothing and sunnies.
The show presents everything the water-loving Aussie could ever wish for. More than 60,000 visitors are expected at the show which is being held across two harbour venues, both available on the one ticket, with free transport between the venues included.
More than 160 boats will be on display at Darling Harbour, ranging from the more modest, to the most luxurious. A free continuous harbour ferry service will transport visitors from Darling Harbour across to Glebe Island where more than 200 exhibitors will display trailerboats, the latest gadgets and leading products available to recreational boaters this year. Glebe Island can also be accessed via a free continuous shuttle bus service operating to and from Central Station.
Once there, the Lifejacket Lounge featuring the Glebe Island Beach BBQ, near the entrance to the Exhibition Centre is a wonderful location to rendezvous with friends, catch a bite to eat, have a drink, and enjoy the view across the harbour. Among the many exhibitors, regular fishing clinics will take place on the Entertainment Stage, also featuring the Musto Fashion Extravaganza (a ‘must-see’ every year), and talks by fishing and boat celebrities daily, Celebrity Chef Bart Beek will also be there giving cooking demonstrations.
Our own Marine Editor for boatsales.com.au and BoatPoint.com.au, David Lockwood will be hosting the Better Boating stage daily from 11am-12pm. His 45-minute presentation covers everything from boat testing to his own pleasure boating, boat-buying tips, what kinds of boats you get for your money, and his favourite boating areas around Sydney. There are also great giveaways including fishing DVDs and beach balls on the boatsales stand.
The Sydney International Boat Show is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and is the one place where those who love boating, or want to learn more about it, can find information on owning a boat, hiring a boat, how to improve their fishing technique, see the latest in ski gear, or browse for their next tinny or kayak.
