Only just making it to the 2014 Sydney International Boat Show in the nick of time is the new Greenline 48 diesel/electric hybrid. The boat's late arrival is not a function of its eco-friendly power plant, however, but a result of its recent world unveiling.
This all-new boat has only just been launched and only ever seen at Dusseldorf Boat Show. According to eyachts Managing Director Peter Hrones, there will be a big rush to get the boat ready for the Show but it will make its debut.
"We’ve got a very small window to get the boat ready between when the ship carrying it docks and when we have to get it into the marina Cockle Bay,” said Hrones. “But we’ll make it… We have to because there are people coming to the Show just to see the Greenline 48," he added.
The new Greenline 48 is said to have benefitted from the research and development of the immensely successful Greenline 33 and bridges the gap between the Greenline 40 Sea Class and the Greenline 70 Ocean Class. A new Greenline 57 Ocean Class will follow on in 2015.
"This is a luxury motoryacht that drastically reduces the carbon-emission footprint of a boating family," says Hrones. "I’m not surprised that over 10 GL48s have now been sold from her debut boat show at Dusseldorf in late January 2014."
The standard boat configuration comes with a pair of shaft-drive Volvo 110hp diesels that cruise at eight to nine knots with a top speed of 11 knots. There is also the option for twin 220hp, twin 300 or 380hp offering a top speed of 22 knots. The standard diesels and capacity will give you 1000nm at the seven to eight knots cruising speed.
Keeping with the Greenline philosophy, the 48 is quiet and fuel efficient due to its choice of Volvo Penta diesels and extremely low drag hull. There is also an option to add electric engines for silent emission-free cruising.
Australia’s first Greenline 48 will have a two-seater lounge suite on the starboard side and a large owner’s cabin with its own bathroom, two luxury guests’ cabins and a separate guest’s toilet and shower.
The huge flybridge even has its own galley which will include sink, fridge and locally fitted BBQ grill and custom bimini.
Mr Hrones said that the Greenline 48 will be priced from $991,000.
