Azimut importers and distributors 5 Star Motor Cruisers will reveal a pair of all-Italian pleasure boats at the 47th Sydney International Boat Show opening July 31-August 4. Two new boats and some key Azimut staff have arrived to grace the purpose-built marina in Darling Harbour and offer an Italian take on nautical style.
Although it’s the smallest boat from the Italian boatbuilder — ranked number one in the world in terms of length of fibreglass boat produced — the new Atlantis 34 we tested earlier this year heads the Sydney boat show line-up as a fitting example of the new Azimut look. The new sportscruiser was a $480,000 pre-show package including upgraded generator and air-con, bow thruster, full bedding and more. But we expect keen show pricing at this opportune time to buy.
Deep windows and hull glazing direct natural light inside the Atlantis 34, where the smart interior design and finish are in keeping with much bigger Azimuts.
The enlarged living spaces and full-beam aft cabin add to the onboard comfort, while 220hp Volvo diesel engines provide sporty diesel performance and economy in the 30-knot cruise range in tis apartment and small family weekender with a luxury fit-out.
With five sold in Australia, the 40S wins out in the popularity stakes. An ideal owner/driver sportsyacht, the 40-footer on show has the standard two cabins/two (big) bathrooms, but also a clever convertible sofa bed to cater for an extended family or just kick back in front of a DVD in the saloon.
The Xenta joystick control makes docking a snap, while the large opening sunroof lets you drive with your head out the top and wind in your hair. Twin 480hp Cummins with shaft drives gave a cracking top speed of 34 knots-plus and we recently enjoyed 30 knots fast cruising around Sydney Harbour (opening photo with Cheshire grin).
But Azimut isn’t one to rest on its laurels and 2014 has seen the release of a new 50 Fly, 77S and 95 Raised Pilothouse, with orders taken already for the Magellano 66 long-range cruiser due to hit the water next year. New-boat incentives will be offered at Sydney boat show.
