Suzuki's new DF15A and DF20A pull-start EFI outboards
Revolutionary portable outboards with battery-less electronic fuel injectionSuzuki launched two new fuel-efficient, lightweight and high performance four-stroke outboard motors -- the all-new DF15A and the new generation DF20A –- at the Düsseldorf Boat Show earlier this year.
The smart new portables are the first in their class to feature battery-less electronic fuel injection (EFI).
The new EFI system is combined with Suzuki’s Lean Burn Fuel Control. Together, boaters will enjoy easier starts, more responsive acceleration, smoother performance and above all, greater fuel efficiency, says Suzuki.
To achieve this, Suzuki engineers have designed a completely new fuel injection system that includes an inline high-pressure fuel pump, a throttle body and small fuel cooler, vapour separator and fuel injector.
By designing these components to be smaller than those used on larger EFI engines (DF40-DF300), the overall weight of the new DF15A and DF20A has been kept as low as possible.
According to Suzuki’s internal testing, this means that, at just 44kg, the new models are the lightest and most compact outboards in their class.
The compact size and light weight of the new DF15A and DF20A make them an ideal power match for a wide variety of boats, including small RIBs and tenders, dayboats for in-land waterways and small fishing boats, says Suzuki. The new outboards will also be ideal for entry-level boating.

They are an excellent addition to our existing range of portable outboards and by making them more lightweight and fuel-efficient than our competitors I am confident that they will be extremely popular all over Australia and New Zealand,” said Greg Haines from Suzuki Marine.
More information on the new DF20A and DF15A will be available at the Suzuki stand at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show opening May 24, with stock expected to be available to the public the following month.
