Suzuki has used the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival to roll out a big update for its Precision Control fly-by-wire electronic throttle and shift system.
As part of the update, Suzuki has included fob-based keyless engine starts, allowing users to fire up multiple engines at the push of a single button.
The roll-out also includes new Suzuki Precision Control throttle systems that are used to electronically adjust the throttle opening and shift position – neutral, forward or reverse.
All-new throttle and shift controllers, available as vertical, horizontal or separate units, include a two-lever dual top mount controller that is now compatible with up to six engines, not four. Suzuki says the move was “responding to the requests of customers who rig multiple outboard motors to their boat”.
The controller and switch panels have been designed with a black keynote, giving them what Suzuki describes as “a unified and chic look”. Mounting screws, which were exposed in previous Suzuki Precision Control units, are now hidden from view.
Suzuki has expanded the Precision Control throttle system to now control multiple outboard engines from a single portside lever to improve the system’s useability.
Outboard engines also gain an automatic tilt and trim system that optimises the engines’ running without any input from the helm.
The colour multifunction screens to which the Suzuki Precision Controllers feed their data such as revs and shift position have also been revised to be compatible with the automatic trim and keyless start systems, Suzuki says.
