At this week's Miami Boat Show, Suzuki launched two new fuel-efficient and high performance four-stroke outboard motors -- new generation models of the DF40A and the DF50A.
The engines weigh less and are more compact than the motors they replace. Initial tests have shown the new outboards use 23 per cent less fuel than the current 40 and 50hp models, mainly at cruising speeds.
Both the engines use Suzuki's proven three cylinder, in-line, 12 valve engine.
Displacing 941cc and featuring sequential electronic fuel injection, the engines respond quickly to throttle changes. Suzuki engineers claim the DF50 has a top speed six per cent faster and accelerates 25 per cent quicker than the current model.
Both the engines feature a maintenance-free oil-bath timing chain which should give years of dependable service.
