Melbourne has played host to four superyachts recently at the Melbourne Superyacht Marina which is Victoria's premiere superyacht destination. The four big boats were Glaze, Silver Cloud, Texas, and
Melbourne is renowned for its wine and food culture which, it is understood, these visiting superyacht guests have taken advantage of.
Melbourne Superyacht Marina is managed by the City of Melbourne Docklands Waterways and provides a broad range of facilities for visiting boats with dedicated superyacht berthing for vessels up to 65m, private, secure, gated berthing, single and three-phase power up to 100 Amperes / 415 Volts, telephone lines, fresh water, security and sewage pump-out at each berth, waste disposal management and a fantastic marina lounge a short walk away with showers, TV, kitchenette and free internet for crew use.
Maryanne Edwards of Superyacht Australia said: "It is exciting for Melbourne to play host to four superyachts at the same time. Melbourne is starting to attract a lot of enquiry from superyachts regarding marina facilities and with a growing event base, Melbourne may soon see more vessels heading that way.
"The economic return to Melbourne from these four superyachts was estimated to be over a quarter of a million dollars, a huge boost to Docklands and the businesses servicing this industry sector," she added.
Victoria is certainly delivering on the promise with Captain Carl Brandes from MY Glaze commenting: "After reviewing the marinas of the Port of Melbourne it was the obvious choice to position the yacht in Victoria Harbour, Docklands. The marina facilities are world class and ideally located close to the city, safe and protected from weather and the personnel are very attentive and courteous.
"The dock itself is perfectly suited for securing superyachts safely with appropriate size bollards and fendering. The dock is clean and well presented for guest arrivals and departures, with good vehicle access for guest transfers. All our requests were received well, handled quickly and professionally, ensuring the success of our time in Melbourne.
"In-fact everyone that we have dealt with in Melbourne have been fantastic and very helpful. We have enjoyed our stay and we all look forward to our next visit," Mr Brandes concluded.
