The manufacturer of marine safety products the warranty has been increased from five to 10, while the long-life lithium battery will be replaced for free after the standard five-year battery lifecycle.
The company says it has also made the EPIRB available at a reduced cost.
"We want to make it clear that the most sophisticated marine safety technology doesn't have to cost the earth," Pains Wessex marine business manager Dale Thompson said.
The RB6 EPIRB is said to be a lightweight, buoyant and easy-to-use device that, once activated, flashes a green pilot light to signify the transmission of a unique digital signal on the 406MHz international distress frequencies.
Featuring a strobe light and reflective tape, the RB6 is highly visible to rescuers, has a waterproof on/off test switch, and utilises solid state circuitry to withstand tough offshore conditions.
