Polish custom catamaran builder Sunreef announced a new range of contemporary sailing catamarans at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017, during its 15th anniversary, but Australian importer Brendan Hunt from Vicsail said the big announcement is that "we have a Classic Sail 80 coming for one of our best clients."
"This new range is just what is needed in a market which is crowded with older designs. The Classic Sail range in both 60 and 80 feet [opening photo above] offers a completely new approach," he said.
Sunreef says its in-house designers have been looking for ways to express the spirit of a classic sail yacht through modern marine architecture. They decided to create an all-around sailing leisure yacht range — a new four-model line-up from compact to superyacht — ideal for exclusive getaways, charter and transoceanic adventures.
Purity, space and light were said to be the essential elements of the newest sail range, which will boast a combination of exterior and interior areas easily flowing into one. But with a completely fresh superstructure concept, the new range gains an enlarged saloon plan with potential for customisation.
The vast, central saloon lounging space with panoramic views opens onto a bow terrace and cockpit. The foredeck will feature a cosy lounge, well shielded from sun and wind, while the saloon also merges with the generous cockpit to extend the aft living area.
A couple of stairs up from the cockpit, the flybridge and upper sundeck were conceived to be the highlight of every model within the new range. While housing the main helm, there is also enough space for movable furniture, a Jacuzzi, fully-equipped wet bar, a barbecue and large sun pads.
The Sail Classic range will have accommodation layouts for both chartered and private use. The galley will be either placed down at hull level or seamlessly integrated with the saloon.
Either way, the hulls are said to provide impressive volume for luxurious guest cabins and an opulent master suite with a walk-in dressing, desk, sofa, retractable TV and an immense bathroom.
With four apparently already commissioned, Sunreef Yachts unveiled its new Classic Sail range during the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017 with a scale model of a luxurious 60-footer due for launch in 2018.
"They are fast, stylish and have features like access to sun lounge areas forward, plus the biggest flybridge in their class and amazing aft patio feel aft," Hunt from Vicsail said.
"We were thrilled to be a part of the design stage and look forward to presenting this new [Classic Sail 80] boat to all our clients," he said Hunt.
