Featuring the superior characteristics for which the company’s Trawler range is already renowned, the Summerland 40 is said to have a state-of-the art design, autonomous controls, outstanding fuel consumption, and exceptional offshore ability.
Priced from $710,000 landed, the Summerland 40 is pitched as a safe and comfortable ocean-going boat with a host of special features including: generous free-board, high bridgedeck clearance to provide a quieter and dryer ride in most sea conditions; and strong factory and local backing from Multihull Solutions.
DESIGN NOUS
- French flair and utility
Designed by Coste & Partners under the architectural guidance of Joubert/Nivelt, the Summerland 40’s two powerful hulls provide excellent stability while eliminating dangerous and uncomfortable rolling.
The big claims is incomparable fuel consumption -- around 40 per cent less than other boats in its class as a result of generous tanks and an innovative hull design.
A lot of thought has gone into making the deck spaces ergonomic and obstacle-free for easy access to all areas. With a sundeck, generous seats, a main-deck helm station, plus flybridge, the Summerland 40 embraces innovative power-catamaran design.
An sweeping stairwell leads up to the flybridge from the cockpit and it an be cordoned off for maximum safety with a thick glass hatch. The flybridge is a retreat in its own right, with queen-size sun lounge featuring luxuriously padded backrest on posts.
The flybridge helm seat is double bench number with an aft-facing passenger perch. Multihull Solutions has driven the boat from its Mooloolaba offices and says the skipper has exceptional visibility in all directions.
ENTERTAINING SPACE
- Seamless decks
Entertaining is enhanced by the seamlessly integration of saloon and cockpit, assuring easy access all on one level and natural ventilation through the interior. The well-appointed galley, with plenty of cupboard space, overlooks the light-filled saloon and dining area, which comfortably seats up to eight guests, we’re told.
The interior helm station focuses on a sleek console and comfortable seating for skipper and mate thanks also to a footrest and strategically positioned portholes for ventilation. The generous navigation table is said to be large enough for multiple charts to be unfurled without clutter. Hamilton Island, here we come.
THREE CABINS
- Owner’s own hull
The Summerland 40 boasts an exclusive owner’s suite in the starboard hull furnished with a raised queen-sized island bed said to afford spectacular sea views. There’s abundant storage space, office desk, dressing table and a private bathroom.
In the port hull, guests can relax in privacy and tranquillity with two separate cabins featuring double or twin beds, shelves, bathroom and ample storage space for convenience on extended cruises.
CRUISY CAT
- An ideal coastal cruiser
There are now more than 200 Trawler catamarans on the water around the world in less than 10 years of construction, with many clients choosing them to tackle the toughest conditions including the English Channel, North Sea, Bay of Biscay, Golf Stream, trade routes, Indian and Southern oceans.
Based on the Sunshine Coast, Multihull Solutions has a Summerland 40 in stock and believes the clever boat, with handy low draft of just over one metre, offers a new, frugal, comfortable and better take on coastal cruising.
