Beginning Thursday May 6 at 8.30pm on Sydney's digital channel 44 (TVS) is Strikezone, a new Australian fishing TV show that aims to push the sport to extremes.
"No other show has ever seen anglers go to such extremes," reads the press statement, and the name alone should be evidence enough as to the new TV show's direction.
Hosted by well-known angler Al McGlashan, Strikezone's first season will take place around New South Wales, focusing on species found predominantly in the Eastern State, from marlin to back-country cod.
Viewers can expect "nonstop action and big fish" every Thursday night from Strikezone, which could be described as a cross between a Blue Planet style documentary with a touch of Top Gear tomfoolery thrown in for good measure.
Billed as entertaining and informative, Strikezone will also be broadcast to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide "as those local channels switch to digital throughout 2010," reads the press statement. Go to the official StrikezoneTV.com website for more details on scheduling.
The new show is expected to capture the passion and beauty of angling thanks to the use of seven high-definition cameras, which will record the action above and below the surface.
The crew over at StrikezoneTV are also looking for the best trailerboat sportfishers out there. Send an email to info@strikezonetv.com if you're keen (but make sure its got a Honda on it).
