Earlier this year, Cairns-based fibreglass boat specialist Hooker Boats released the Hooker 650 Pro Fisherman, a completely new centre console boat that builds and improves on its 5.5-metre Pro Fisherman model.
The big change for this bluewater boat, though, is the inclusion of a flat transom. Hooker took the design for its popular 5.5-metre hull and extended it by another metre to give the 650 Pro Fisherman the space to handle twin outboard engines without the need to install a pod.
The new walkaround release, featuring 650mm of freeboard, sits in between Hookers’ smaller 6.0-metre Pro Fisherman SII centre console and the dual-width centre console 675 Pro Fisherman models.
The new boat features a larger forward casting platform, built-in iceboxes, and a bigger console dashboard that can handle larger multifunction touchscreens.
“The [Hooker 650 Pro Fisherman’s] 19-degree deadrise gives optimal performance in our open waters and yet maintains a great stability for a deep vee hull,” Hooker says.
“Bait board, boarding ladder, deck wash, live bait tank, iceboxes, kill pen and the traditional Hooker large fuel capacity are the 650PF standard.”
Other standard features include an anchor locker, a console with a dual-width seat and shelf, automatic bilge pump, hydraulic steering, a removable stainless steel bait board with rod holders, transom tackle drawer, foam-filled hull voids, underfloor kill pen, forward storage compartment, coaming rod holders, handrails, alloy seat frame, acrylic windscreen, side pocket lights, transom door, cleats, bollard and bow roller, plumbed deck wash, boarding ladder and LED navigation lights.
The Hooker 650 Pro Fisherman also has an options list that includes a T-top, a storage box under the helm seat, helm seat backrest, freshwater tank, windscreen grab rail and a trolling motor mount on the bow.
Hooker currently has a demo model of the Hooker 650 Pro Fisherman stacked with optional extras and priced from $142,000.
A base model Hooker 650 Pro Fisherman with a 200hp outboard engine and an electro-hydraulic braked galvanised trailer is priced from about $88,000 not including any options or electronics.
