Spotlight: Cobalt R33 Outboard

Cobalt Boats launches the Cobalt R33, a triple outboard-powered sports bowrider

Luxury US sports boat maker, Cobalt Boats has released a new high-performance bowrider called the Cobalt R33 Outboard. This beautifully appointed new model is available with twin and triple outboard engines to a maximum of 900hp.

With effortless high performance and a stunning interior fit-out, the new Cobalt R33 Outboard could be the ultimate day cruiser and family entertainer.

Officially launched in mid-June, 2022, the new R33 OB is now the largest outboard-powered boat in the Cobalt sports boat range, and a terrific social boat for day cruising, tow sports and entertaining.

The introduction of the flagship Cobalt R33 OB boosts the Cobalt outboard bowrider range to five models between 7.4 metres and the R33's 10.1-metre overall length.

The outboard-powered bowriders compliment the dozen or more sterndrive-powered sports and surf/wakeboard boats in the Cobalt boat range.

Full-featured bowrider

The Cobalt R33 OB builds on the existing Cobalt bowrider models by adding more seating and storage space, along with a host of luxury features and appointments including a clever electric folding sun-shade/bimini, a high-end Harmon Kardon audio system, and a remarkable 42 cupholders.

Sun lovers will appreciate the sumptuous bow and stern seating and lounging areas featuring hand-crafted diamond-stitched vinyl upholstery, along with the option of marine carpet, teak, or seagrass vinyl flooring.

The Cobalt R33 has a traditional bowrider layout with a V-seating area with storage up in the bow, along with a reconfigurable, full-width lounge/sun pad at the stern.

The two social/seating areas are separated by dual consoles topped by a sleek, walk-through centre-opening windshield.

The Cobalt R33 also comes with an enclosed head compartment inside the port side console, complete with a chemical or vacuflush toilet, storage cupboards, and a sink with freshwater mixer tap.

Opposite, beneath the helm console, is a starboard side cabin a few steps down from the main deck. Inside is a comfortable seating area with ample headroom and storage areas.

The cabin can even be optioned with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, and an infill cushion to create a single berth.

Above decks, the helm station is beautifully set up for the skipper, with features such as the extra-wide electric helm chair with fold-out front bolster, and the gorgeous leather-trimmed dash with a glass fascia panel that's wide enough for a pair of 12-inch Garmin multifunction displays.

Skippers will also be impressed with the gloss piano black instrument panel with back-lit anodised alloy push-button switches, as well as the leather-wrapped, tilt-adjust Italian steering wheel, side mount binnacle throttles and well-positioned joystick control.

As well as the aft sun lounge/seating area, the cockpit has L-shaped side bench seats with storage compartments, removable bins, ample freeboard, transom boarding platforms, and a starboard side hull entry door.

Power and performance

The Cobalt R33 is available with a broad range of Yamaha and Mercury outboard engines so you can dial up your level of performance to suit your individual need for speed.

The base power option in the US is a pair of 300hp Yamaha or Mercury four-stroke outboard engines with joystick docking control.

Next up is a pair of 400hp Mercury Verados or dual Mercury 450R V8s to give the maximum-rated 900hp.

For the ultimate in performance, customers can step up to triple 300hp Mercury V8 Verados, or triple 300hp Yamaha V6 Offshore four-stroke outboard engines.

With either of the triple outboard options, you can expect wicked performance for tow sport activities, along with a top speed just shy of 55 knots.

The Cobalt R33 has the hull to handle all this high performance. Developed and refined over many years, the 21-degree (transom) deadrise R33 hull is sleek, smooth riding and stable, thanks to the 3.2-metre-wide maximum beam and full-length hull lifting strakes.

Plenty of options

The Cobalt R33 is available with a huge range of options to personalise your boat, including a Sea Keeper gyro stabiliser; a Yamaha underwater Sea Scooter; cockpit galley with fridge, electric barbeque with solid-surface bench top; fibreglass hardtop in lieu of the sunshade; several flooring options; a choice of Garmin multifunction displays; cabin air conditioning; bow and stern cocktail/dinette tables; bow seating covers; transom shower; underwater lighting; shore power; electric anchor windlass; auto trim tabs; and more.

The Cobalt R33 is also available with MerCruiser and Volvo Penta sterndrive engines. For more information on both, visit Cobalt Australia.
