Beneteau has updated its Beneteau Flyer 8 range of dayboats with new designs and features to make them even better for enjoying time out on the water.
The changes mark a big step up for the Beneteau Flyer 8 SPACEdeck walkaround centre console and FUNdeck side console models, with an emphasis also on making the boats feel much more premium than before.
“The new Flyer 8 feels more powerful, whether you choose the SUNdeck family version with a cabin, or the SPACEdeck, with an open deck plan ideal for fishing and water sports,” Beneteau said in a statement announcing the new-for-2022 models.
“It boasts sharp sleek lines, a longer deck making movement easier on board, small details, such as black pulpits adding elegance, quality materials and amazing trims.
“This clever combination, blends elegance and fun, together with a modern design and a sporty feel.”
The interior makeover extends to the layout, with a new modular design allowing owners to change their cockpit to suit whatever they happen to be doing.
As well as the aft bench that converts into a sun bed, the Beneteau Flyer 8 now has two removable benches to either side, and console seats that rotate to face aft. A removable table makes the cockpit a social hub.
Aft, redesigned swim platforms on either side of the outboard engine pod make it easier to access the water.
On the move, the Beneteau Flyer 8 retains the stepped hull introduced to the range in 2014 that is designed to mix air in with the water passing beneath the hull while up on the plane, reducing drag and increasing efficiency.
Internal layouts will vary depending on whether buyers opt for the fishing-friendly SPACEdeck, which moves to a rigid structure, or more family-focused SUNdeck models.
Keen anglers can swap out the rear sun bed for a fishing station that includes a fold-down bench, a live bait tank, and extra rod storage and storage lockers.
Owners keen on activities such as waterskiing or mucking around on a sea biscuit can opt for a tow arch.
SUNdeck owners, meanwhile, have two sun pads to choose from, aft and forward, with forward access via a clear walkaround layout. The forward lounges also have added adjustable backrests to make things even more comfortable.
Below decks, the SUNdeck features a large cabin with a berth, while the galley – only accessible below decks in previous versions of the boat – is now also accessible from outside.
The cabin also features a separate head with a porthole, big windows that let in natural light, and good ventilation.
The SPACEdeck version of the Beneteau Flyer 8 features lower rails than on the SUNdeck version, providing easier access to the water. It also has a larger anchor well that Beneteau claims makes it double as a diving board.
“Despite its sporty design, the Flyer 8 SPACEdeck still focuses on passenger comfort,” Beneteau said.
“At the bow, we have a very pleasant cleverly designed lounge with facing seats converting to a sunbathing area.
“The new rotating backrests make a forward sea view possible underway. There is a head and refrigerator in the cabin, and also a small berth that would suit a child.”
The new 2022 Beneteau Flyer 8 will be available via Sydney-based Chapman Marine Group.
