The Beneteau Antares 11 is a member of a new, growing class of outboard-engined pocket cruisers that are big enough for all the family, yet small enough for a cruising couple to manage comfortably.
The Antares 11 is the flagship of the French boat maker’s line of Antares-badged premium outboard-powered weekenders, ranging in size from 5.0 metres right up to this, the flagship model.
Stretching just 11.1 metres from bow to stern, the Beneteau Antares 11 has enough space for up to seven people to overnight in two cabins and a convertible saloon, or can allow up to 11 people to jump onboard if you’re just out to catch the New Year’s Eve light show – once they return after COVID-19 – before heading back in.
The fact the Beneteau Antares 11 is outboard-powered also brings benefits, such as more interior volume compared with a sterndrive boat, and lower maintenance – the outboard engines can easily be serviced dockside, and the ability to raise them out of the water cuts down on the need for antifouling.
Optional outdoor features include a forward sun deck with an adjustable seatback and a canopy to cover the space, an L-shaped cockpit lounge that converts into a sunbed, and easy access through the transom to the duckboards to either side of the outboard engines pod, complete with a telescopic stainless steel ladder.
The saloon’s coach house roof extends aft over the cockpit space, and includes a retractable fabric sunroof. The entire saloon is offset slightly to port to provide a wide, safe walkway to the bow section.
The Beneteau Antares 11 even has a drop-down freeboard section on the starboard side of the cockpit that increases the amount of space onboard.
Inside, the saloon space is large and light-filled via deep windows providing all-around views, and a three-piece sliding glass bulkhead providing access to the cockpit.
There’s a full galley for cruising including an 80-litre fridge, with the option of a microwave oven to use when connected to shore power.
The accommodation includes a forward master suite with its own access to the head and shower, and an aft stateroom with a double and single bed.
The boat is also available in a flybridge version.
The Beneteau Antares 11 is available from Sydney’s Chapman Marine Group.
