Spotlight: 2019 Princess V50

Dynamic, driven by design, and big on space and performance, the new V50 draws on all the attributes of the Princess V Class range

The Princess V50, the newest member of the luxury British motor yacht marque, will launch with either an open or enclosed deck, the company has revealed.

It has launched a virtual online tour of the second smallest model in the growing V Class family, framed on either side by the V40 and V55. Suitably, the V50 draws on some of the design elements of both its smaller and larger siblings.

Measuring 15.21 metres with the stainless steel pulpit adding another 1.04 metres, Princess says the V50 offers flexibility in abundance, with a number of configurations available – starting with an open or closed main deck.

“With so much choice on hand and 32 knots at your fingertips, you’re assured a euphoric experience,” it says.

The Princess V50 includes a well-appointed lower deck saloon with the flexibility to be used as either an entertaining space or a double berth – there is even the option of making this space into a third cabin.

The sports yacht also features a full beam master stateroom and a forward cabin with the option of scissor berths.

Teak trim is used throughout, as are stainless steel cleats, fairleads and handrails.

Made for entertaining

The cockpit contains a transom gate leading to the rear swim platform, which includes a stowable swim ladder and a freshwater hot and cold bathing shower. Options include a electric-hydraulic lowering function, and dinghy chocks – the V50 Open includes the chocks as standard.

The cockpit of the Princess V50 also includes a liferaft storage locker, a transom hatch to a lazarette, storage space for two gas bottles, and seating with a folding teak table.

If you tick the box for the V50 Open, you also gain the raising/lowering bathing platform as standard, as well as an aft sunpad, tender storage for a 3.25-metre boat, a large aft seating area with a fixed teak table, an electrically operated canvas sunroof, wet bar with sink, and a cooler box. Options include a barbecue, L-shaped seating opposite the helm, and a sliding door to the lower accommodation.

Entry from the cockpit into the timber-floored deck saloon is via triple-pane sliding doors framed in stainless steel. The doors open to a U-shaped sofa and dining table. The saloon also has an electric-opening sunroof.

Entertainment is enhanced with a stereo radio with an MP3 function, with speakers located in both the saloon and cockpit. Options for the timber finish include dark oak, walnut or white oak.

The galley includes a triple burner gas stove (substituted for electric hobs in some markets) and a combination microwave and convection oven with grill. A stainless steel sink includes a mixer tap, and a full-size combination fridge and freezer is fitted.

The helm contains twin seats with bolsters, with an electric window for the skipper.

Top-class accommodation

All cabins and bathrooms on the Princess V50 have opening portholes, while all the bathrooms include full shower stalls and electric-flush heads. Lights are all LED.

The full-beam owner’s stateroom includes a double bed with in-built drawers, a wardrobe with shelves, sofa, overhead and individual berth lights, and an en suite.

Powering the Princess V50 is a pair of 435 Volvo Penta IPS-600 diesel engines which include the joystick control system. The engines use the latest generation of Volvo Penta’s active corrosion system to improve their operating life, and providea top speed of between 30-32 knots.

The Princess V50’s power-assisted electric steering system has a hydraulic override as back-up.

The boat comes complete with an ensign staff, six fenders and four berthing lines.
