Sneak Peek At Martha Cove
Boaties had a unique opportunity in February to sample the waterfront lifestyle offered by the $650 million Martha Cove on the Mornington Peninsula, VictoriaThe five-hectare inland harbour development, which has been 19 years in the planning, allowed members of the boating public to temporarily moor at one of its many marina berths and tour the community.
Martha Cove is the only place on the peninsula where boats have ‘right of way’ over cars due to the unique ‘sailover’, which links Port Philip Bay to the development’s inland harbour.
“Last year an underpass was opened at Martha Cove’s harbour entrance which allows cars to pass under the waterway,” project executive Peter Trathen said. “The sailover provides free height access for boats of all sizes from Port Philip Bay, through the channel and into the community’s harbour and marina.
“With no bridges restricting the height of boats, Martha Cove marine berths offer safe and hassle-free mooring for the majority of pleasure craft.”
