Italian gyroscopic stabiliser brand Smartgyro has announced the SG60, a new model optimised for boats stretching from 55 to 65 feet.
The new model – featuring the same modular design as Smartgyro’s other gyroscopes that mean it is the only brand in the world to feature in-boat servicing – means the Smartgyro range now covers craft ranging from 30 to 80 feet.
Smartgyro marketing director Sander Gesink the SG60 followed on from this year’s launch of the SG20 for boats stretching 45 to 55 feet.
“The expansion of the range increases the options for boat builders looking for sophisticated solutions offering flexible design opportunities and easy installation,” Gesink said.
“The variety of vessels now covered by our new portfolio also ensures that more boaters will be able to experience the unique benefits of our gyro stabilisers so they can maximise their time on the water and enjoy a positive onboard experience.”
Gyroscopic stabilisers use a disc spinning at a very high speed to counteract the motion of swell, waves and wake on a boat. The centrifugal forces of the spinning disk work against the boat’s constant pitch and yaw that in turn can make life onboard uncomfortable, from the deck moving under your feet right up to seasickness.
The Smartgyro gyroscopic stabilisers are suited to both new builds and refit installations, and feature design innovations within the control electronics, braking system, liquid cooling system and vacuum enclosure to maximise roll reduction, performance and efficiency.
The addition of the SG60 complements the SG20, SG40 and SG80 models released over the last two years.
