Smartgyro names first Australian dealer
European stabiliser maker lands in Australia via a new Queensland-based dealershipSmartgyro, the Italian marine stabiliser maker that last year formed a commercial tie-in with Japanese engine maker Yanmar, has appointed a new Australian dealer.
The announcement, made today, names Queensland-based marine systems, engineering and hydraulics provider Pacific Maritime Solutions as the brand’s first-ever Australian dealer.
Smartgyro said it was targeting Australia to raise “awareness about the unique performance, installation and maintenance benefits of its gyro stabilisers for OEMs, leisure boat owners and light-duty commercial operators”.
PMS general manager Damienn Plahn said his group was delighted to be selected as a Smartgyro dealer.
“I believe the market-leading technology and design features incorporated into the SG range of gyro stabilisers offers our customers an exceptional solution to minimise boat roll and dramatically improve life on board,” Plahn said.
“The models also provide builders with the chance to work with a superior stabilisation brand and create new design possibilities.
"The Smartgyro range is a perfect fit within our current range of equipment and I am very excited to use all our experience and contacts in the industry, start talking to customers and maximise opportunities for these innovative models,” he said.
Other stabiliser products
PMS already brings other stabiliser products, including the Vetus fin system – another Yanmar-affiliated company – as well as hydraulics-based thrusters, platforms and cranes.
It also supplies pumps, water-making and water treatment systems, and exhaust systems.
Smartgyro said its stabilisers were ideal for new builds or refits.
“The outstanding advantage of the Smartgyro units is that all maintenance operations can be performed on-board, significantly reducing downtime and service costs, and extending product life,” it said.
“Featuring a modular mechanical design, the compact stabilisers can be assembled directly inside the boat, creating new design opportunities for builders and increasing the potential for installation in vessels with small access spaces.
“The SG range also features design innovations within the control electronics, braking system, cooling system and vacuum enclosure to maximise roll reduction and efficiency.”
PMS will display the Smartgyro stabiliser system at next month’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
