Servitec backs ocean race

Lord Howe Island Race get a new sponsor

Survitec Australia has thrown its support behind the annual Gosford to Lord Howe Island yacht race by signing on as an associate sponsor. The event is a Category 1 ocean passage race with an approximate race distance of 410 nm.

This event is one of only two Category 1 races conducted in Australia, the other being the internationally renowned Sydney to Hobart.

Survitec is supporting the event with a financial contribution together with Crewsaver and Kannad product support. The Crewsaver Crewfit 190 inflatable life jacket, Kannad 406 EPIRB, Kannad SafeLink Solo PLB and SafeLink R10 AIS SART man-overboard products are all safety products which have particular relevance to ocean racing yachtsmen.

"We believe that the Gosford Sailing Club and our Crewsaver and Kannad products form a great fit," said Mark Barker, Managing Director of Survitec Australia.

"Survitec is a strong supporter of yachting at all levels, but we have a particularly close affinity with the high safety demands of ocean racing. This is the 39th annual event and we are delighted to be supporting the name rights sponsor Hempel and the Gosford Sailing Club."

In addition to securing the sponsorship of Survitec Australia, the Gosford Sailing Club has an existing product support program in place with Survitec. Under this program, the Gosford Sailing Club makes bulk purchases of safety equipment then on sells to yacht owners and sailing crews.

"This is a perfect match for both our club and Survitec," said Tony Evans, Race Director of the Gosford Sailing Club.

"In staging this annual ocean race, our primary focus is on the safety of our competitors, so we are very pleased to have Survitec on board with their Crewsaver and Kannad products."

“I can say without reservation that our members hold these brands in the highest regard. This is a perfect match of event and product brand.”

For 2013, the Gosford Sailing Club has amended the date of the Lord Howe Island race from its traditional late October date to a start date of Saturday April 6, 2013.
