Seawind's big new cat

Blue water cruiser coming

It won't hit the water until October but the new 41 foot Seawind 1250 cruising catamaran is already attracting potential buyers.

The Wollongong-based company announced details of the new model at the Sydney International Boat Show and released design drawings and even photographs of the first hull under construction.

The new 1250 will include many of the features found in the award-winning Seawind 1160 (38ft) but will be longer, higher and beamier than its predecessor.

Various layouts are being offered including a galley-up and a galley-down version. The galley down version gives over the entire saloon to entertaining, so you could have a sit-down dinner for up to a dozen guests.

Seawind has already sold four of the 1160 model, including the display boat at the Sydney show. The first of the new 1250 models should exit the factory in early October and it will be officially christened at the Seawind Pittwater Regatta on Friday, October 30.

Seawind employs more than 100 people at its state-of-the art 30,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Wollongong.
