Sea Ray moves into SA

International pleasure-boat manufacturer, Sea Ray, has appointed marina owner/developers The Chapman Group as its exclusive dealer for South Australia

The dealership will trade as Sea Ray Sales SA.

"With the mining and defence sectors bringing a lot of money and people into the State, there's growing demand for the type of premium products that Sea Ray offer with the comfort of local sales and service," said dealer principal, Andrew Chapman.

Sea Ray sales in WA and Queensland – two other states enjoying a mining boom – are going extremely well with a real resurgence at the larger end of the market for 15 to 18-metre motor yachts.

"South Australia has a growing recreational boating market which is being further fuelled by the increasing number of "baby boomers" who are retiring to the coast to live the lifestyle they've always dreamed of," said Chapman.

The Chapman Group said it is one of Australia's leading marina owner/developers and its Sea Ray operations will be based at its successful The Marina Hindmarsh Island site at Goolwa on the mouth of the Murray River.

Complemented by a full Travelift hoist, maintenance and service capability, and on-water fueling facilities, the complex has earned the reputation of being one of Australia's premier marina developments, said the Group.

The Chapman Group said it has also gained Major Project status from the SA Government for Wakefield Waters, an on-water development just north of Adelaide catering for approximately 3000 boats.

General manager of Sea Ray sales SA, Doug Chapman, said more and more South Australians are embracing the waterfront playground that is on offer along the state's coastline and rivers.

"More and more people are moving to the water and buying boats. We firmly believe existing sport boat and sport cruiser owners in South Australia are looking for the excellence in quality, unmatched style and unparalleled performance of the Sea Ray range," said Chapman.
