New program devised to propel Sea Ray into 2014 and beyond

Next Wave is the name given to an intensive 24-month commitment to enacting major innovation across all Sea Ray platforms, explains the big American boat builder. The new marketing campaign has the goal of “reimagining the boating experience and raising the bar industry-wide.”

By developing and championing new technologies such as Quiet Ride, Dynamic Running Surface and TrueJet, and design breakthroughs including SkyFlow Design and Concealed Outboard Propulsion, Sea Ray says it is asserting itself as a dominant global presence and a company of forward thinkers.

SKYFLOW

SkyFlow Design dissolves the line between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing natural light into the boat like never before, says Sea Ray. Galley and saloon connect with the enclosed cockpit beneath a long stretch of glass. Interiors are brightly lit and indoor dimensions see noticeable gains.

SkyFlow is exemplified on the 510 Sundancer, which is described as the perfect alternative to traditional tradeoffs and eliminates the ‘cave’ effect inherent in most express-style cruisers.

The atrium-style roof of the galley and saloon connects to the extended-cockpit solarium. Interior spaces are flooded with natural light, and transition between zones is said to be seamless.

The mid-boat space expands to include an impressive master suite on the new 510 launching at next week’s 2013 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, while the brightly lit cockpit solarium becomes the social heart of the boat

QUIET RIDE

Quiet Ride offers a comprehensive new approach to sound reduction, featuring cutting-edge components including patented noise-cancelling Tuned Transom®. This system works to quash noise and reduce vibration, resulting in a dramatically quieter and more enjoyable boating experience.

Among other models, Quiet Ride stars on the new 350 SLX, a luxury-inspired sportboat featuring premium touches and peak performance. Sea Ray says watersports enthusiasts and design aficionados alike will find plenty to love on all SLX models.

The noise-cancelling Tuned Transom counteracts engine sounds and claims to quells vibration by 50 per cent. Sealed engine compartment and baffling stop noise before it can travel, leading to easier conversation, even at speed, and freedom from tiresome vibration.

DYNAMIC RUNNING SURFACE

Dynamic Running Surface automatically optimises running attitude and trim, delivering stability and performance that exceed all expectations, claims Sea Ray.

Acceleration improves as bow rise is reduced. Skiers, wakeboarders and thrill-seekers can define presets for perfect wake height.

Dynamic Running Surface is an option for the 230 SLX, a sportboat that “reimagines the bowrider experience with premium fit-and-finish and leading-edge performance.”

Large triangular planes integrate with the hull to create the dynamically articulating running surface. Peak performance, stability and comfort are maintained -- automatically -- along with improved acceleration, reduced bow rise and optimal trim no matter the load.

The bottom line is great wake height and shape that benefits skiers and boarders.

CONCEALED OUTBOARD PROPULSION

Concealed Outboard Propulsion offers the flexibility, efficiency, trimability and increased space of outboards, while maintaining the clean lines and useable transom of sterndrives and inboards.

Sea Ray identifies the benefits of Concealed Outboard Propulsion as quieter operation, better shallow-water capabilities, lower maintenance costs and remarkable onboard space.

Concealed Outboard Propulsion is a hallmark of the 370 Venture (arriving this year at Queensland Marine Centre). The innovative and accommodating express cruiser has maximised cockpit and interior space, plus great fuel economy and flexible performance.

Outboard enclosures reward boaters with quieter operation and reduced maintenance costs, too. Trimmable performance provides remarkable shallow-water access and improved fouling protection, while increased onboard space allows for a full-width swim platform and full-width mid-cabin stateroom.

TABLETTUNES

TabletTunes, powered by StreamSurfer, is a comprehensive multimedia solution that provides intuitive control of a variety of entertainment devices in one easy-to-use touchscreen.

Sea Ray is the first production boat manufacturer to offer this program as part of an array of next-generation features. TabletTunes is a convenience option on all 2014 Sport Yachts and Yachts.

Replacing a slew of remote controls that must be powered and could be easily lost, TabletTune allows seamless media access by downloading and synching an intuitive app.
