Sea Fox has continued to build momentum in the offshore crossover market, and the 2026 Sea Fox 288 Traveler looks set to strengthen that reputation even further. Combining serious offshore capability with premium family comfort, this boat has been designed for buyers wanting one vessel that can comfortably do it all.
We jumped on board to find out whether the latest Traveler lives up to the growing hype surrounding the model.

The 2026 Sea Fox 288 Traveler has been designed as a premium offshore dual-console crossover that is equally suited to a serious day of offshore fishing or a comfortable family outing.
Measuring 28ft 8in overall, the Traveler looks and feels like a substantial offshore rig. Its 20-degree deadrise hull inspires confidence in rough conditions while maintaining excellent stability at rest.
Power comes from twin white Yamaha 300hp XSB2 outboards, paired with Yamaha's digital electric steering and HelmMaster joystick system with integrated autopilot.
A massive 1140-litre fuel tank and capacity for up to 12 passengers make the Traveler an accommodating and highly capable crossover without obvious compromise.

The 2026 Sea Fox 288 Traveler as tested is priced at $568,000, including the twin Yamaha outboards and an extensive range of factory options fitted. Buyers who require a trailer can expect to pay an additional $21,990 for a dual-axle alloy braked trailer to match.
The 288 Traveler comes with a large range of standard features that position it at the premium end of the dual-console market. Some of the standard features you will find on board include a stainless steel 12V fridge, freshwater and raw-water washdown, pull-out aft-facing lounge seat, insulated in-floor fish boxes, bait net with storage, aquarium-style livewell, electric ceramic toilet, JL Audio unit, a 12V power point and lots more.
Our test boat was also optioned with the following:
Ultima hardtop with D-tubing and full-glass windshield, white powder coating on the hardtop and helm frame, upgraded light-grey double diamond-stitched upholstery with orange logo, upgraded tech package with courtesy lights, power-cycle underwater lights, wireless phone charger, Pro Package, which includes a cushioned foot mat, gas shocks on two fish-box lids, two extra rod holders on the bow gunwales, four quick-release fender mounts, a removable ski tow bar, electric overboard waste discharge, pre-fitted bow shade, Lenco trim-tab switch with LED indicators and stainless steel propellers.

The moment you step aboard the 288 Traveler, it feels purpose-built for both offshore fishing and family boating. There is ample room to move around the boat, while the deep freeboard and generous walkaround space provide confidence when fishing offshore.
The upgraded light-grey double diamond-stitched upholstery gives the boat a premium feel throughout. Attention to detail is excellent and elevates the onboard experience well beyond that of a typical fishing-focused platform.
The bow area was a standout. Deep wraparound seating and removable filler cushions create a large social space that would be ideal for entertaining or relaxing at anchor with family and friends. The pre-fitted bow shade is likely to become a favourite feature during summer, particularly for families with children on board.

Storage has clearly been a priority. Under-seat compartments, in-floor fish boxes, dedicated rod storage and multiple tackle storage areas help keep the deck uncluttered throughout the day.
A fully plumbed electric toilet with holding tank and discharge system is another standout feature. The compartment also doubles as a large storage space, which proved useful for stowing excess cushions during our test.
The DEKit marine flooring looks smart and feels comfortable underfoot.

One of the most impressive areas of the boat is the helm. The Garmin touchscreen is neatly integrated into the dash and remains easy to operate, even while underway.
The stainless-steel steering wheel features a turning knob that feels smooth in operation, while Yamaha's digital electric steering delivers precise and responsive handling across the speed range.
The HelmMaster joystick system makes low-speed manoeuvring remarkably easy, and docking is straightforward for a boat of this size. Despite the substantial hull and twin-outboard setup, the Traveler felt agile and capable of tight manoeuvres around the boat ramp. The integrated autopilot would also prove valuable during longer offshore runs.
The JL Audio sound system is another highlight. Featuring two amplifiers, twin 10-inch subwoofers, six 7-inch speakers and 1200 watts of output, it delivered impressive sound quality throughout our test and reinforced the luxury crossover feel Sea Fox has aimed for with this model.
Visibility from the helm is excellent thanks to the elevated seating position and full-glass windscreen integrated into the Ultima hardtop.

The cockpit has been thoughtfully designed and strikes an excellent balance between fishability and comfort.
Fold-down seating, a pull-out aft lounge, removable cushions and wide walkways allow the area to quickly transition from offshore fishing mode to family entertaining.
A port-side boarding door secured with large stainless-steel latches is wide enough to assist with landing large fish or boarding from a dock.
An integrated galley featuring a sink, electric grill and fridge transforms the cockpit into a genuine entertaining space. Whether preparing lunch at anchor or taking a break between fishing sessions, the layout works exceptionally well.
For anglers, there is no shortage of fishing-focused features. An aquarium-style livewell is located at the transom, alongside a dedicated compartment housing a bait net. In-floor kill tanks are long enough to accommodate species such as Spanish mackerel.
A 60-litre freshwater tank, freshwater hose and deck wash add further practicality, while plentiful rod holders and expansive deck space reinforce the boat's offshore credentials. Sea Fox has done an excellent job ensuring the family-friendly features do not come at the expense of fishability.

The Traveler climbed onto the plane quickly and maintained impressive composure when conditions became choppy.
We recorded a top speed of 47.4 knots at 6100rpm while consuming 199L/h. At a comfortable cruising speed of 28 knots and 3500rpm, fuel consumption dropped to approximately 60L/h combined across both outboards. Trolling at around 7 knots resulted in fuel burn of roughly 15L/h.
The hull sliced cleanly through chop and delivered soft landings when crossing waves. Stability at rest was excellent thanks to the wide beam, while steering remained predictable and precise during aggressive turns. The hull maintained grip well without excessive lean or instability.
The combination of Yamaha's digital electric steering and HelmMaster system worked seamlessly, making docking surprisingly stress-free. The boat's substantial weight and solid construction inspire confidence offshore, while the absence of vibrations or rattles throughout our test further highlighted the quality of the fit and finish.

The 2026 Sea Fox 288 Traveler delivers exactly what many modern boating families are looking for. It is capable of serious fishing, entertaining, cruising and watersports, all within a single package.
What impressed us most was how effectively it balances these roles. It feels every bit the capable offshore fishing platform, yet still offers the comfort, technology and premium finishes expected of a luxury crossover at this price point.
Combined with its enormous fuel capacity, thoughtful layout and strong list of standard features, the 288 Traveler shapes as a compelling option for buyers seeking a versatile offshore boat that can comfortably do it all.
