Sea Doo Speedster SK

Sea.Doo's only new model jetboat for the 1999 model year, the Speedster SK is based on the 5m Speedster model introduced in 1998

Redesigned from the waterline up, the Speedster SK is intended to be an affordable alternative to a fully-optioned skiboat platform, with the recreational skier and wakeboarder in mind.

Available in either yellow or red graphic schemes, the Speedster SK is powered by twin two-stroke twin-cylinder 720 Series Rotax powerplants. Proven on Sea.Doo's watercraft, the powerplants produce a total of 170hp.

Specifically tuned for low-end torque, there is ample power to tow a skier in comfort, the company says.

Fulfilling its role as a ski-friendly craft, the SK features an enclosed bow design for ski and wakeboard storage, an extendable ski pylon, graduated tournament speedometer and a skier launching pad at the rear, with room for the skier to 'gear up'.

In addition, a retractable ski ladder is fitted to the ski platform to allow ease of access on and off the boat. Additional stowage is provided underfloor and an icebox is fitted as standard.

The Canadian manufacturer, Bombardier says the model was introduced in response to a growing trend of boat buyers seeking a competitive, recreational and ready-to-go ski platform.

The deep-vee multi-chine hull is designed to provide excellent straight-line tracking while towing, but also allows for tight turns and accurate steering when returning to pick up a fallen skier. The 20° deadrise hull has an overall length of 5.03m with a 2.31m beam. It carries 151lt of fuel, weighs 777kg and can carry up to four adults.

Like all models in the Sea.Doo jetboat range, the Speedster SK is fitted with a Digitally Encoded Security System (DESS) as standard, weedless intake system and the Bombardier-designed 'idle-up' steering system.

Optional features on the SK include a bimini top and mooring cover.

The remainder of the Sea.Doo sportsboat fleet return unchanged for the 1999 season. It comprises the 220hp Speedster and two 18ft sportsboats -- the seven-seater Challenger 1800 and the socially-orientated Sportster 1800 model.
