Sea-Doo Spark changes the game
Affordable 'ski' sells 1000-plus and transforms the local watercraft industryLast summer, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) launched the all-new Sea-Doo Spark with the objective of transforming the personal watercraft (PWC) industry by making fun on the water accessible to everyone.
The entry-level Spark is lightweight and therefore easy to tow behind a small car, easy-to-ride and playful for up the three people at a time. Oh, and affordable.
MORE THAN 1000
Since the launch, the popularity of Spark has been beyond BRP’s expectations. Today (early December 2014), more than 1000 units have been retailed in Australia and New Zealand, marking an important milestone in the PWC industry and providing testament to the broad appeal of Spark.
With 60 per cent of Spark customers being new to the sport and never having considered owning a PWC before, the product is attracting a whole new generation of PWC enthusiasts.
PRICE IS RIGHT
The popularity of the Spark is largely thanks to its accessible price point that is nearly 40 per cent less than its closest competitive model. The Spark costs from $7800 in Australia and $9499 in New Zealand.
CHEAP BUT HIGH-TECH
The Sea-Doo Spark also features the most fuel-efficient credentials in the industry, says Sea-Doo.
Powered by the new Rotax 900 ACE in-line three-cylinder engine, the Sea-Doo Spark watercraft is compact, designed with an all new Exoskel architecture consisting of a lightweight, durable and recyclable Polytec material, making it easy to manoeuvre and extremely playful.
It also includes the latest technology with the first braking system from the proven leader in the industry.

"The Sea-Doo Spark has the potential to recreate the golden years of the PWC industry as a cleaner, more fun, more affordable and easier-to-use watercraft,” said Gregoire Dupont, Vice President and Regional General Manager BRP Asia Pacific.
"With innovations like intelligent brake and reverse offering unparalleled control, and our noise reduction technology that enables our PWCs to be up to 50 per cent quieter, the Sea-Doo line-up including Spark appeals to more and more consumers.
"Retailing 1000 units in such a short period is a real testament to the unique value this product offers consumers," Mr Dupont adds.
