The Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 has long been one of the most versatile jet skis on the Australian market. In 2026, Sea-Doo has carried over the proven recreational platform with only minor changes, reinforcing its all-rounder status as opposed to reinventing the formula.
The SE badge represents ‘Special Edition’ trim to make your time on the water more comfortable.

The 2026 model has a new colour scheme, eclipse black and laguna green, which has a more premium look.
The ski has been built on Sea-Doo’s dependable GTI hull which is known for being stable and suitable for riders of all experience levels.
The swim platform at the rear makes it suitable for water sports and, structurally and dimensionally, the ski remains unchanged.

The engine is powered by the naturally aspirated Rotax 1630 ACE engine, producing 170hp. The GTI SE 170 targets accessible all-round performance as opposed to extreme top speeds.
There’s perky enough acceleration to get up on the plane very quickly, but predictable enough that there are no nasty surprises for beginners.
The ACE engine has always been lauded for its reliability, and there’s no reason that will change in 2026 mode.

The 2026 GTI SE 170 is priced from $20,399. You can add the audio system on for around $2300 extra. The price is for the hull only, so you still need to factor in the price of a trailer which varies between dealerships.
The SE configuration includes the following:
• iBR – an ‘intelligent’ brake and reverse feature to help dock the ski easily and to assist in manoeuvring at slow speeds.
• VTS – The variable trim system allows real-time trim adjustment to suit different riding conditions.
• Large rear swim platform – Located at the rear of the ski with LinQ mounting points, providing a resting ‘station’ as well as the ability to add accessories including a wake pole.
• Boarding ladder - The ladder makes it easy to remount in deep water.
• Cruise control – A handy feature for those wanting to tow or for relaxed cruising on long journeys.

We rode the Sea-Doo in choppy conditions, but it handled the turbulence extremely well.
The hull handles chop better than smaller recreational models, while remaining nimble enough for playful riding and towing duties.
Although it isn’t designed for tricks, we had so much fun on this ski jumping some big waves and performing high-speed manoeuvres. Although it isn’t specifically built for aggressive cornering, it still performed well and excelled in mixed conditions.
The GTI SE 170 is stable, safe and comfortable, but without feeling bulky.

The Sea-Doo GTI SE 170 remains one of the most resourceful jet skis on the market. For its price point, it certainly has everything a family would want – and at exceptional value for money.
It’s powerful without being intimidating, making it an excellent choice for buyers who want to take on a bit of everything.
