Sea-Doo and ETEC pass surf test

Surf Life Saving Australia demonstrates BRP Sea-Doo and E-TEC reliability across 2015/2016 season

As the end of another highly successful Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) season comes to an end, the 71 days of gruelling summer and swim-season patrols were ably assisted by the reliable performance and durability of the Sea-Doo GTI 130hp, Evinrude ETEC 25hp and the Can-Am side-by-side commander 800.

"BRP products are powerful lifesaving tools. They enable surf lifesavers and lifeguards to move around the beach and water quickly. This means patrolling and rescues can be performed with greater efficiency and rapid response to saving lives," said SLSA CEO, Melissa King.

With the average yearly patrol season lasting 10 hours a day over 71 days, the Sea-Doo watercraft and Evinrude outboards will have passed 51,120 hours of on water patrolling for the 2015/2016 season. Can-Am vehicles will have clocked up 319,000 kilometres of hard sand work this year alone.

BRP says these staggering numbers are testament to the decision SLSA took back in 2009 to use Sea-Doo, Evinrude ETEC and Can-Am to help protect Australian beach goers.

BRP products are currently being used across SLSA clubs around Australia and include the:

  • Sea-Doo personal watercraft with on-water braking system (the first of its kind) which enhances safety and manoeuvrability, making BRP products the best suited to SLSA standards, says BRP.
  • Evinrude ETEC engines with emission complied two-stroke fuel-injected outboards that use up to 50 per cent less fuel with 30 per cent more torque than current engines.
  • Can-Am Commander side-by-side with its innovative Can-Am Learning Key
that limits speed for beginners and allows surf clubs to safely train
    the next generation of lifesavers

"As the largest volunteer movement of its kind in Australia, there is no more worthy organisation for BRP to support than Surf Life Saving Australia. Our products offer the best performance and reliability under demanding rescue conditions and are the most sensitive to the environment in the industry," said Vice President, General Manager for BRP Asia Pacific, Gregoire Dupont.
