Scout Boats, the US brand behind some of the world’s largest and most elaborate centre console boats, is now available via Sydney-based distributor Chapman Marine Group.
Chapman will have three Scout models on display at this week’s Sydney International Boat Show as part of a wider display of 25 boats including Sea Ray sports models, Beneteau outboard dayboats and cruisers, Cobia offshore centre and dual console sports fishers, and Scandanavian day boat brand Flipper.
Chapman Marine Group dealer principal Mark Chapman said the build quality of the Scout boat range attracted him to the brand.
“In 35 years, I have imported hundreds if not thousands of boats and the construction of Scout Boats stood above the competition,” Chapman said.
“Their epoxy-infused hulls are solid, reliable and ideal for Australian conditions. You get what you pay for.”
Another attraction for Chapman Marine Group was Scout’s new flagship model, the Scout 67 LX. The three-model range will include the LXF (luxury fishing), LXS (luxury sport) and LXC (luxury cruising) configurations.
The Scout 67 LX was designed in collaboration with UK superyacht design studio Harrison Eidsgaard and when it launches in 2024 it will be the largest outboard-engined production yacht in the world.
Powering it will be five 600hp Mercury V12 outboards to give it an expected top speed of 52 knots – a run from Sydney to the Gold Coast could take as little as seven hours at that turn of pace.
Chapman said the Chapman Marine Group was a Mercury dealer, and adding Scout would enable the business to grow that arm of the dealership.
“We are the principal service dealer for the new Mercury V12 600hp engine on Sydney Harbour,” Chapman said.
“The outboard market has grown so much over the past few years with the proven advantages of lower costs of maintenance and service, as well as increased performance and efficiency.
“It will be exciting to see people’s responses to Scout Boats at SIBS, with three models on display and information about the all-new Scout 67 LX Series which will be launched in early 2024.”
The 2023 Sydney International Boat Show runs from August 3-6.
