Ingenious Australian product has brought the joys of underwater exploration to the masses. Now, thanks to the firm’s new air compressor and battery pack, you can refill your SCORKL tank whenever, wherever...
Melbourne-based SCORKL, the company behind the innovative SCORKL portable and refillable underwater breathing apparatus, has just announced the arrival of its SCORKL Electric Compressor and SCORKL Battery Pack, giving users of the clever device the ability to quickly and easily refill their tank.
Launched in 2017, the SCORKL is a compact mini scuba tank that gives users up to 10 minutes of underwater time. The CE Certified device doesn’t require any training or SCUBA certification; since its launch around 8000 units have been sold to buyers in 65 countries.

Previously, the SCORKL could only be refilled via one of three methods: from a large scuba tank; with a traditional dive compressor; or via SCORKL’s hand pump. However, with the arrival of the SCORKL 2.0 – Electric, the task can be accomplished just about anywhere, thanks to SCORKL’s new 12V air compressor and battery pack.
The new compressor can be powered via your boat or car battery, or via the new battery pack that uses everyday 18V power tool batteries. The latter is compatible with batteries from brands including Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt and Bosch. The battery pack also features an LED charge light and USB ports to charge mobile devices.

According to SCORKL creator and founder, David Hallamore, the compressor and battery pack is a game-changer for the new device.
“Traditional SCUBA air compressors are prohibitively heavy and expensive, meaning they can only be stored and operated in dive stores or in a garage,” he says. “The SCORKL Electric Compressor, in stark contrast, is lightweight, inexpensive, and portable. Not only can you plug it into the wall, but you can power it from a boat or car battery as well.

Hallamore says the underwater breathing device has clear benefits for boaties.
“I’ve always believed that every boat needs a SCORKL for things like unfouling a propellor, cleaning under the hull, moving an anchor, and of course incredible underwater experiences,” he says. “And now, every boat needs a SCORKL Electric Compressor for effortless, unlimited refills.”

SCORKL is poised to offer the new compressor at an introductory pre-sale early-bird price of $699 and the battery pack for $299, with buyers able to add in a SCORKL device for $299 as part of the offer. That means a new buyer could purchase the lot for $1297, whereas the standard SCORKL starter pack, with hand pump, is currently priced from $846.
The deal will open via SCORKL’s Kickstarter product launch campaign from Wednesday, August 16, and be available for a month, with delivery from this initial production run slated for December 2023. The new compressor is fully compatible with existing SCORKL devices.
