Mulpha Events, organiser of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) and a number of other major events, has announced that its General Manager, Johan Hasser, is stepping down.
Mulpha Australia Head of Hotel, Hospitality and Leisure, Patrick Lonergan, said SCIBS has become one of the most anticipated events on the global marine calendar under Hasser's leadership.
“Johan has taken the Show to new heights, making it a key event in the marine industry worldwide,” he said.
“His contribution extends far beyond SCIBS, with the Events division growing significantly under his guidance.”
Hasser leaves the organisation after overseeing a record-breaking 2024 SCIBS, which attracted 335 exhibitors, 43,741 attendees, 767 boats, 102 product launches, and more than 2500 marine products.
“I am immensely proud of what my team and I have achieved at Mulpha Events,” Hasser said.
“The growth of SCIBS and the addition of new events reflect our passion and commitment to excellence. I am confident Mulpha Events will continue to thrive.”
Looking ahead, Mulpha Events has an exciting 2025 calendar, including SCIBS in May, the Gold Coast Festival of Golf in conjunction with the Australian WPGA Championship in March, the newly acquired Australian Adventure Expo in March, and the event delivery of the Sydney International Boat Show in partnership with the Boating Industry Association.
“With a strong foundation and a growing portfolio, Mulpha Events is focused on creating exceptional experiences for attendees, exhibitors, and partners,” Lonergan said. “We thank Johan for his outstanding contribution and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Recruitment for a suitable replacement is underway to ensure the right leader is elected to fill Hasser’s shoes. In the interim, Senior Events Manager, Corey Rattray-Wood, will lead the team.
“Corey has been a key part of our success and will ensure continuity as we prepare for an exciting year ahead,” Lonergan added.
