Save on Sea Ray and Boston Whaler

Floor stock slashed up to 30 per cent
Australia’s biggest Sea Ray and Boston Whaler dealer, Queensland Marine Centre (QMC), has slashed prices on its floor stock, with savings of up to 30 per cent on some 40-odd boats.
“The sale is due to the strong Australian dollar, special Sea Ray factory rebates, and a 2011 model clearance,” dealer principal Andrew Bennett told Boatpoint and Boatsales.
QMC has discounted everything from an unsinkable Boston Whaler 130 Super Sport skiff with side console, through the evergreen Sea Ray 175 family bowrider, to the luxurious Sea Ray 470 Sundancer sport yacht.
Initiated by the American factory, the Four Seasons Sales Event applies to all global dealer inventory including certain 2012 models. The sale runs until March 16.
But the biggest savings apply to the 2011 models and, we’re told, they aren’t all that different from the new 2012 versions.
“The 2012 Sea Rays have a few enhancements, some new components sourced from different suppliers, and some cosmetic change. But they’re not massive changes and the smart buyer will save with a run-out model,” Bennett says.
Queensland Marine Centre is also the Australasian dealer for Boston Whaler boats, especially the bigger blue-water models like the new 285 Conquest, the first of which will be delivered to a Sydney boater this month.
“Boston Whalers have been exceptionally popular for us in recent times, especially the triple [outboard-powered] rigs like the 345 and 370. We’ve sold more than 15 in the last two model years. When you’re talking over half-million dollars for a typical customer's loaded boat, it’s a very strong brand,” Bennett says.
“Offshore, their seaworthiness and stability is second to none, but the comforts of the bigger Whalers are what make them multipurpose boats that double as great family weekenders,” explains Bennett.
As for the Australia’s popular Sea Ray brand, QMC’s best sellers hail from the Sundeck range that includes 200, 220, 240, 260, 280 and 300 models.
As the name implies, the Sundecks offer more cockpit space than your run-of-the-mill bowrider, as well as greater amenities for serious day boating. The bigger models also boast an enclosed head, with the flagship 300 featuring a private berth, wetbar and optional grill.
?Despite being located in Queensland, QMC serves the national market. “We’ve recently put boats into Sydney, Adelaide, the Whitsundays, even New Guinea. We don’t just sells boats, we send out our staff to perform professional handovers and back that up with customer service,” Bennett says.
All authorised Sea Ray dealers in Australia sell only factory-built boats made to local standards. Non-compliant imported models may incur substantial costs to meet these standards, may not have 220 V power for compliance, and could have significantly lower resale value.
QMC is also a Mastercraft, Mercury, Albemarle, and Quicksilver dealer. Any warranty, safety or compliance issues on any of its boats are backed by their respective factories. Insurance and financing from major local suppliers is available, too.
QMC’s showroom is located at the corner of Nerang/Southport Road and Bailey Crescent, Southport, QLD, 4215. Phone (07) 5591 7032.
