Savage Aluminium 455 Ranger SF

The 455 Ranger Sports Fishermen is one of three in the Ranger family that includes a centre console version, the Ranger Profish and the 455 Ranger open boat. The mid-sized runabout has an overall length of 4.87m, measures 2.1m wide and weighs 350kg (hull only).

Small enough to retrieve easily, tow behind a four-cylinder car, and run economically with a 70hp outboard, the 455 Ranger SF delivers the best of both worlds with its aluminium hull and integrated fibreglass walk-through deck, Savage says.

"This combination offers the benefits of a lightweight aluminium hull with all the nice fiddly bits in fibreglass," third generation designer, John Savage says.

The Ranger's hull has been constructed out of rugged marine grade aluminium to help withstand beaching and accidents such as striking rocks.

According to Savage, the variable deadrise design has been incorporated to provide the best compromise of performance and stability.

Savage has also introduced fully welded gunwales for strength and watertightness in the Ranger, along with fully welded keels and chines. The chine extrusion is shaped for spray deflection and the specially designed keel extrusion makes trailering easier, protects the Ranger from rough landings and provides extra rigidity, Savage says.

Standard features include steps for forward deck access, a 60lt underfloor fuel tank, stainless steel bow rail, and aft and screen grabrails. Storage onboard the Ranger includes full-length sidepockets and fishing features like rodholders are included.

The cockpit incorporates an adjustable sliding pedestal helm seat, side decks and a non-skid floor.

Optional features include a baitboard, livebait tanks, an auxiliary motor bracket, canopy and bench seats.

All vessels in the Savage range carry a full two-year warranty.
