Sandringham Yacht Club scoops awards

Melbourne's Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) has scooped the trophies at a range of Industry award ceremonies in recent months

SYC won the Environment Award at the recent Victorian Marine Industry Awards held at Crown Casino. This award is given to the business which demonstrates and introduces significant environmental initiatives within the Marine Industry.

The award was presented to SYC’s CEO, Richard Hewett, by the Victorian Minister for Roads and Ports, Tim Pallas, in recognition for creating a pollution-free environment around its marina and hardstand areas.

In recognition of the Award, Sandringham Yacht Club was congratulated by Ian Kiernan AO, chairman of Clean Up Australia, and Simon Tori the Victorian state manager of Veolia Environmental Waste Management.

In addition, Sandringham also picked up the 2006-2007 Victorian Yacht Club of the Year award from Yachting Victoria.

In 2006, SYC became the first yacht club in Victoria to achieve "Clean Seas Marina" accreditation.
