Sandringham scoops awards

Sandringham Yacht Club named Sporting Club of the Year

Victoria's Sandringham Yacht Club has been named Sporting Club of the Year at the pretigious annual Clubs Victoria Awards. Two hundred and fifty guests from the club industry around Victoria were in attendance vying for the awards which judge all registered clubs from around the state.

Sandringham Yacht Club was took out the highly sought-after award in recognition for its wide erange of on-water programs in keelboats, dinghys and motor boats. A busy 12-month period hosting regattas like Sail Sandy, the ISAF World Cup, the TP52 Southern Cross Cup and other regattas contributed to the win.

SYC was also awarded metro Club of the Year. Clubs cannont nominate for this award but rather are assessed on their overall cluband membership offer. "Given the competition, it is a remendous recognition for SYC to be considered an industry leader," said Chief Executive Richard Hewett.

Also on the night, Sandringham's executive chef Kol Gemmell was awarded Club Employee of the Year.
