The new Seawind 1600 sailing catamaran will make its Australian debut at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Multihull Central has announced.
The 52 foot (15.8 metre) catamaran is taken from the pages of international yachting design studio Reichel/Pugh, and crafted as a luxury cruiser with an efficient hull design.
Its dagger boards are trimmed for performance, while lift-up rudder blades reduce shoaling draft to just less than 0.65 metres – what Seawind describes as “incredible”.
Seawind’s signature twin helm also features, maximising visibility while keeping the boom lower for a more comfortable ride, Multihull Central said.
“Performance has been well balanced with comfort, with large, spacious cabins, generous saloon and galley, and sweeping views from both the saloon and cockpit thanks to a unique stepped cockpit design,” it said.
Double J, the boat on display at Sanctuary Cove, was built to 2C compliance, meaning it can operate commercially. It will leave the show to start work with Elite Sailing Luxury Charters as a whale-watching boat out of Mooloolaba.
Seawind, a 35-year-old Australian company, builds its boats in Vietnam. It also owns and builds Corsair performance trimarans.
Multihull Central, which has offices in Sydney and Brisbane, distributors Seawind Catamarans, Corsair Marine, Aquila Power Catamarans and Outremer catamarans in Australia.
The 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show will run from May 23-26. Tickets are on sale now.
