Sanctuary Cove Marina completes $8m stage one development

First step in superyacht expansion includes space for more boats at the Gold Coast’s premier motor yacht destination

Sanctuary Cove has completed the first stage of its marina upgrade project featuring three new piers, with one of them dedicated to berthing superyachts.

The $8 million-plus project gives boat owners access to premium facilities and marina services with an “unparalleled marina experience”, as well as create space for 66 more yachts to berth.

The facility has announced that the G and H piers are now open for private berths, with the I pier to expand the space even further next month.

Sanctuary Cove Marina general manager Steve Sammes said industry demand for quality facilities and berthing services for vessels measuring more than 60 feet had driven the expansion.

“Sanctuary Cove has been recognised as an idyllic boating and lifestyle destination for more than three decades and we are excited to continue to raise the bar for our visitors to The Marine Village, combining premier shopping and dining options with high-quality marina facilities,” Sammes said.

“We’ve already seen strong interest from interstate vessel owners across Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra particularly due to the high quality of our service offering.
“Some of our berthed yachts make their way to the northern hemisphere and back and this redevelopment ensures that the Sanctuary Cove Marina will offer facilities that rival some of the best recreational marinas in the world,” he said.

The marina redevelopment includes facilities for berth holders and permanent tenants, allowing door-to-marina services with concrete decks also wide enough for a golf buggy.

“Uniquely positioned to bring together the best of boating and lifestyle, the marina expansion will also see superyachts, larger than 164ft in length, call Sanctuary Cove home within the dedicated J Pier,” a statement announcing the project said.

The marina will also include dedicated berths for motor yacht brands Princess Yachts and Horizon Motor Yachts.

New berth holders will have Sanctuary Cove’s signature Platinum Membership, which includes access to the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s lagoon pool, room and food and beverage discounts, country club membership, complimentary games of golf each year, and Sanctuary Cove Marine Village shopping discounts.
