SANCTUARY COVE BOAT SHOW: Jet Skis, Sea-Doos and WaveRunners

It wouldn’t be a Queensland boat show without a feast of watersports craft and cool toys

A thrilling array of toys, gear, gadgets and craft from leading performance and recreational watersports brands will be making a splash at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) from May 25 to 28.

From wake and ski boats, personal water craft (PWCs) to leisure dayboats, tenders and RIBS, the country’s latest fun craft and conveyances will be among the highlights of the show.

Among the exhibitors with watersports boats and craft are Northside Marine, Gold Coast WaveRunners, JSW Powersports, Queensland Marine Centre, Active Watersports, RIB Force, Seabob Jet Australia and Jet Ski World.

Stand-up paddleboards will be well represented, along with RIBs, superyacht toys and jet skis.

PERSONAL WATER CRAFT
JSW Powersports will have a big spread of the latest Sea-Doos including the Spark Trixx specifically designed for “pulling off tricks” with ease.

JSW will also have Sea Fox fishing craft in five layouts and, as the newly appointed Gold Coast dealer for Malibu Boats, a selection of these impressive watersports towboats for wakeboarding, wakesurfing and waterskiing.

GC WaveRunners will present two new 2017 Yamaha WaveRunners among its line-up of nine models creating a buzz internationally.

There’s the EX Series, positioned as a great entry-level WaveRunner for families, and the much-anticipated launch of the GP1800, a supercharged model that will excite race enthusiasts.

New from Jetski World is the Kawasaki 2017 SX-R 1500, which is the world’s first four-stroke stand-up and winner of the recent Australian National titles.

With a 1498cc four-stroke marine engine that delivers 160PS (about 150hp) in a stand-up Jet Ski, the SX-R is hailed as "the fastest accelerating mass-produced stand-up jetski ever."

RIBS AND SUPS
Active Watersports will be returning to SCIBS this year, exhibiting as Walker Bay Australia with a range of tenders, sailboats and watersports accessories.

The most popular products include the Walker Bay brand of Airis inflatable kayaks, which inflate in around 10 minutes, the Airis SUPS, and the Walker Bay rigid dinghies, the ideal yacht tender. There is also a safe and stable entry-level Walker Bay sailing dinghy for kids and families.

Active Watersports will also have the Feel Free range of waterproof gear, including dry tubes, dry tanks, dry bags, and the Voyager brand of waterproof tote bags.

RIB Force Inflatables will have 40 boats on display, taking a prominent position close to the main entrance and Main Pavilion.

There will be AB and Aurora tenders and RIBS on show, covering fishing, performance and sports boats; RIBS up to 8.5m rated for 50 nautical miles offshore; and roll-ups for stowing aboard.

Superior Watersports will be on display in the Superyacht & Marine Pavilion with their sturdy polyethylene rotomoulded Stand Up Paddleboards manufactured on the Gold Coast and ideal for commercial use.

FRENCH SAILING DINGHY
For fun family sailing, Henshaw Yachting is presenting the Tiwal 3.2 Inflatable Sailing Dinghy by French designer Marion Excoffon. This nifty little boat is stable, comfortable and performs as well as a hard dinghy, with good looks to match.

Designed for safety, it has a wide V-shaped underbody that provides more stability than a traditional rigid dinghy. Its sabre-shaped daggerboard offers the same upwind sailing ability as a traditional dinghy and its boomless sail makes tacking safe and easy.

The Tiwal can take an adult and two children or two adults and is 10.5 feet long, weighs 50kg and comes in two bags — one for the hull and one for the structure and the sail.

RED RANGE
From the UK, Red Paddle Co will exhibit the full 2017 range of inflatable stand-up paddleboards from entry level to premium. The brand’s biggest selling SUP, known as The Ride, is a stable 3m-model ideal for beginners and experienced paddlers on the sea or lake.

Red Paddle Co has devised its own twin-cylinder hand pump that is the fastest on the market – inflating your SUP in just four minutes.

Sirocco Marine North will have a big spread of RIBS, including the Australian launch of the new Sealegs 7.7m Sport D-Tube that’s said to be ideal for the coastal lifestyle, adventurous nomads, anglers and those living where there is challenging terrain, crocs and reefs.

Also on the Sirocco stand, 15 Brig models on display, among them the new HT series, 2.9m to 3.8m.

Whitewater Marine will display the US-made premium brand, Tigé wakeboard and wakesurfing boats.

THE SEABOB
Seabob Jet Australia will have the Seabob Jet F5s at SCIBS this year. Known as "the world’s most advanced luxury aquatic toy," the German submersible boasts a lithium-ion battery that produces 680nm of torque and 4kW of power for speeds up to 20kmh.

While the Seabob comes with a factory setting that shuts the engine off below a depth of 2.5 metres, the more adventurous can adjust the setting to a maximum depth of 40 metres.
