The elegant San Lorenzo SL100 motor yacht has long been one of the most distinctive vessel of its size in Europe and now the shipyard has launched a new model that enhances the levels of luxury.
The external lines have been modernised with larger windows and new transom shape and a flybridge that is available either with or without a hardtop. But it is below decks that the major changes have been made.
The Ameglia shipyard has attempted to bring the open plan living of modern houses to the nautical world. The principal characteristic of the main deck is a "path" connecting the saloon with the dining/family lounge in the bow. Designer Dordoni Architetti of Milan has aimed to improve the spatial flow of the vessel making it appear bigger than yachts of similar size.
On the lower deck, the number of cabins has been reduced from four to three. The owner's cabin and the two guest cabins are of equal size and lead off from a private lounge that is lit by natural light. The lounge can be used for extra guest accommodation if required.
Natural material such as wood, marble, linen and silk have been used extensively throughout the boat along with some unusual touches -- such as bronze and polished steel for walls and ceiling covering.
Three crew cabins can take a maximum of five crew members.
The new SL 100, which displaces 105 tonnes, is powered by twin MTU 16V2000M93 engines which each produce 2450hp. The yacht will have a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots.
