The 2012 Club Marine Australian Marine Export & Superyacht Industry Awards, organised by the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) were announced last week at the AIMEX and Club Marine annual networking function in Sydney’s Darling Harbor.
Sailfish Catamarans from New South Wales, was awarded 'Best Marine Industry Export Performance (Medium)'.
Sailfish Catamarans builds high-quality custom plate aluminum power catamarans for the recreational, government and rescue markets. Established in 1993, Sailfish has grown from a staff team of two, producing five boats a year, to now over 20 full-time staff, producing over 30 custom-build catamarans a year. Sailfish says that the success has been a direct result of the team's efforts and they continue to cultivate the highest levels on ethical standards and workmanship within the workplace.
A presence at Sydney International Boat Show for many years allowed Sailfish Catamarans to initially export into the New Zealand market. They have since been exporting boats to the USA, Malta and the UK. Russia was a new market for Sailfish and the first vessel was exported there in 2011.
Investment into e-marketing, attendance at international boat shows and an increased dealer network has helped Sailfish seek new export opportunities and to increase exposure for its products.
