This new Riviera 3600 Sport Yacht has undergone a major revision with the introduction of Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, which gave its designers an opportunity to revisit and redesign the accommodation space on board the boat.
Internally, the major change is a large aft cabin (with two berths: a single and a large athwartships double) that runs across the full beam of the boat, which is similar to its cousins, the 4400 Sport Yacht and, more recently, the 43 Offshore Express.
The Volvo Penta IPS system is an integrated system of marine diesel engines and steerable drive units mounted under the hull with twin counter rotating, forward facing propellers. It offers easy handling and manoeuvring even in tight situations and a joystick for easy docking, plus up to 30 per cent better fuel consumption than traditional shaft-drive systems.
Externally, Riviera said the most striking change to this two cabin/one bathroom cruiser is bonded glass windows each side of the hull that add natural light into the full beam aft cabin.
Riviera said the 3600 Sport Yacht set the lifestyle standard that has been developed on subsequent 4700 and 4400 Sport Yacht models, most notably the al fresco lifestyle concepts built into the pillarless wide stainless steel hopper window and aft bulkhead door which, when opened, allows space to flow freely between cockpit and saloon.
The cockpit floor opens up by means of an electric actuator for easy access to the engines, said Riviera, while a smaller access hatch in the forward area of the cockpit serves for general inspections.
